A cabaret line-up fit for a king

THE legendary Gleneagle Summer Cabaret in Killarney is this month swinging into action with a line-up of acts including The High Kings, Brendan Shine and the Dublin City Ramblers.

The cabaret, part and parcel of summer in Killarney, will also see the return to the legendary ballroom throughout July and August including The Showband Show, Lightning Strikes 80’s Show, Joe Dolan Tribute Show, Fureys and Davy Arthur, Dickie Rock and Brendan Bowyer.

But while old favourites remain a huge draw, the headline act of the summer has to be The High Kings who will perform a total of ten shows over the next two months.

Their show, Fine Girl Ye Are, is already going down a storm with audiences in Killarney and it should come as no surprise given the bands pedigree with numerous accolades to their names including best newcomers and best folk act from the Irish Music Awards.

Following on from the success of their platinum-selling debut album, they released their follow up album, Memory Lane, earlier this year, featuring well loved ballads like Step it out Mary, The Green Fields of France, Star of the County Down, and the much anticipated collaboration with the Wolfe Tones, On the One Road.

Another Gleneagle favourite with hits to his name is Brendan Shine, who is due to take to the stage every Tuesday night throughout July and August with songs like Do You Want Your Oul Lobby Washed Down and Shoe The Donkey.

The ever-popular Lightning Strikes will rock audiences every Monday night with their medley of 80’s music hits while showband enthusiasts can dance back in time with Brendan Bowyer, Dickie Rock and Keith McDonald and The Showband Show on select dates.

Sunday nights herald the return of Country Sunday with performances by Ireland’s best country stars, including Robert Mizelle, Patrick Feeney, Trudi Lawler, John McNicholl, TR Dallas, Declan Nerney, Louise Morrissey and more.
