Kerry stores enjoy a national success
TWO Kerry Mace Stores have enjoyed success on a national stage for their high standards.
The stores in Sneem and Ballyduff were among a number of Mace stores around the country to be recognised for achieving high standards in retailing at the annual excellence awards.
Willie O’Byrne, managing director of BWG Foods – operators of the Mace brand in Ireland – paid tribute to the hard work of the Kerry stores.
"This year’s awards coincided with an extra special occasion in that the Mace brand is also celebrating 50 years of trading in the Irish marketplace," he said.
"Our retailers demonstrated their commitment to achieving excellent standards in hygiene, regulatory compliance and overall store look and feel – standards that will be central to the success of the brand over the next 50 years," he added.
Retailers who achieve the Mace excellence award must comply with a strict set of criteria which involves stores being rigorously monitored throughout the year in areas such as shop presentation, food safety and legal compliance.
The assessment also involves surprise audits carried out on an ongoing basis throughout the year by mystery shoppers as well as Mace personnel to ensure that the highest possible standards are being upheld.
