Listowel success

ANOTHER weekend of cultural bliss has ended at Listowel Writers’ Week.

It was such a shame that it happened to clash with the Dublin Book Weekend as those who would like to attend both had to select one and miss the other. Perhaps next year they might arrange something better.

Listowel was, as it always is, at its most beautiful. The locals were awaiting the traveller with whatever their needs with service with a smile from those almost run off their feet all day.

Others towns could do well to learn the pleasure of being served with a smile. Where else could you listen to a young boy being asked what he would like for breakfast. "White pudding and toast please," he said. "No problem," was the reply and it was promptly served.

It is indeed no wonder that John B had to but look out the window and create his wonders from what he saw about him. Event after event was run off with military precision.

What I missed from last year was the street music. As the weather was so fine it would have been nice to sit out and listen to the music as we did last year.

It was a most pleasurable event and wit ill be on my calendar to be in attendance once again next year, God willing.
