Mac an tSaoir is new captain
BY KIERAN McCARTHY

TOMÁS Mac an tSaoir has been unveiled as the Kerry under-21 captain for the forthcoming season.

The highly-rated An Ghaeltacht goalkeeper will lead John Kennedy’s under21s into the Munster championship quarter-final clash against Cork in just under two weeks’ time.

Nominated by Annascaul and put forward by the West Kerry Board, Mac an tSaoir is one of the more experienced Kerry under21s in Kennedy’s panel this year.

Looking ahead to the game against Cork, the Kerry boss explained just how huge a match it will be.

"After one game, our season could be over. There’s no backdoor at under-21 level. It’s a one-off game," Kennedy told The Kingdom.

"If you look at ourselves against Cork, we are playing the Munster and All-Ireland champions and if we lose after the 60 minutes, then that’s it. It’s all over. Our season could end on March 13th.
