Athletic hit the perfect 10

Killarney Athletic 10 Tralee Dynamos 0
KILLARNEY Athletic prepared for this Sunday’s massive Umbro FAI Junior Cup clash with Clonmel Town as they hit 10 past Tralee Dynamos in a very one-sided Premier A match on Sumday.

But Athletic must know that they could have done with a sterner test, against a team like Killarney Celtic or Lisselton Rovers, as they prepare for Sunday’s cup clash with fourth favourites, Clonmel Town, at Ferndale.

The 10-0 scoreline tells the story of this game which was effectively over as a contest before half-time when the home side were 4-0 to the good, with Dynamos down to 10 men.

Two quick goals from brothers Rory and Alex O’Sullivan, complemented by an own goal and the fourth from Shane Bunyan put Athletic in control.

In the second period, Alex O’Sullivan scored his second followed by a second each for Bunyan and Rory O’Sullivan.

A brace then from substitute Denis Galvin and the scoring was completed by Bunyan who claimed the match ball and his hat-trick.

The game saw returns to action for Eoin O’Connell, David Looney and Conor Farrell in a productive day in front of goal for the side in blue.

Looking at the outright betting for the FAI Junior Cup, Killarney Athletic are 22/1 while Clonmel Town are 13/2 fourth favourites behind 3/1 shots Pike Rovers and Fairview.

It would be brilliant for Kerry soccer if Athletic could upset the odds but the head suggests that visitors will be hard to beat.
