KERRY TD Jackie Healy-Rae has claimed he has been assured by the Department of the Taoiseach that work is to begin immediately on the restoration of Killarney House - the historic building which has fallen into disrepair since it was willed to the state.
He said he has been informed that the Office of Public Works and the National Parks and Wildlife Service will weatherproof the house to ensure no further damage is caused to the building or its contents.
The OPW will then draw up a plan and a timescale to restore the house, according to Healy-Rae who said the issue was part of his “deal” with the government.
